James Murphy
Founder & Group CEO

James Murphy

James is the Founder and CEO of Lifes2good, having set-up the company in 1997. Born in Galway, he attended St. Jarlaths College in Tuam and then attained a B. Comm in NUIG before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1986. James then moved to Brussels where he worked for Coopers & Lybrand (currently Pricewaterhouse Coopers) and spent five years working between Belgium and Luxembourg. He returned to Ireland in 1991 to join BMR-Slendertone where he built the brand, and then he sold out his participation in 1997 to start up Lifes2good. Under James leadership, Lifes2good has grown from a small distribution company to a global enterprise. He championed a marketing model comprising of direct sales to consumers through database and internet marketing in addition to selling into pharmacy chains and health stores. James made the company’s first acquisition in the UK in 2003. In 2007 he acquired the Viviscal brand when this business had a turnover of €700k. The company continued to grow with further expansion throughout Europe and the US. Lifes2good grew the business worldwide with offices in Ireland, UK, USA, Canada, Australia and Portugal. The Viviscal business grew to €50m in 2016 and in January 2017, Lifes2good successfully sold the Viviscal brand to the US Conglomerate Church & Dwight for €150m. James has attended the Leadership 4 Growth programme at Stanford University in California in 2011 sponsored by Enterprise Ireland and has followed Business Development programmes in the IMI. He was one of the finalists in the Ernst &Young Entrepreneur of the Year programme in 2013. James currently lives in Galway with his wife Maria and four children, and also enjoys participating in Triathlons, singing with the Galway Tenors, and supporting the local Rugby community.

Tom Tierney
Operations Director & CFO

Tom Tierney

Tom is currently the Operations Director and CFO for Lifes2good having joined the company in 2007. Tom trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse Coopers and over the course of his career has held various financial and advisory roles with companies such as Golden Vale plc, Bio-Medical Research Limited and Interbalco. Prior to joining Lifes2good he ran his own management consultancy business based in the Mid-West, aiming at providing management support services in areas of finance, strategic planning, information systems and commercial practice. He has also acted as a non-executive director on the Boards of a number of private companies, representing the interests of both state agencies and private investors. As well as being a qualified accountant Tom holds a Diploma in Business Strategy from the Irish Management Institute (1994) and completed the EI sponsored Strategic Leadership 4 Chief Financial Officers Programme in 2012.

Vicky Metcalfe
Group Marketing Director

Vicky Metcalfe

Vicky is the most recent addition to the Leadership Team as Group Marketing Director. Vicky leads the company’s corporate and brand marketing strategy, communications and product development. With over 20 years marketing experience gained from working in the UK with blue chip giants such as Unilever and Alberto-Culver Ltd, Vicky brings exceptional international personal care brand development expertise having worked on household brands including Tresemme, Sunsilk, VO5, Axe, Toni & Guy, Andrelon and Brylcreem. Before relocating to Galway, she was based in Rotterdam heading up the European Haircare business for Unilever, developing the portfolio, its strategy and innovation plans. Vicky is passionate about building a strong team and innovative, powerful brands that improve people’s lives. She has a postgraduate diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Andy Leyland
Supply Chain & Business Development Director

Andy Leyland

Andy is Supply Chain and Business Development Director at Lifes2good. Andy joined Lifes2good in 2013 after having spent ten years at BMR-Slendertone (an international consumer goods company).While at BMR Andy held a number of executive positions, the most recent one being CEO of Slendertone for the previous four years and prior to that, Managing Director of its US subsidiary, Head of Operations, and Supply Chain Manager. Andy has lived and worked in a number of countries such as USA, China and Ireland. Andy has twenty five years of experience across a number of business sectors such as Automotive, Telecoms, Medical devices and consumer products and now brings that wealth of experience toLifes2good as it grows its international presence and its broad portfolio of consumer products. Andy’s educational background is a degree in Science followed by a postgraduate diploma in Quality Assurance (Engineering).Executive Management training courses at IMI (Dublin) have followed in more recent years.

Matt Liggins
Managing Director UK & Ireland

Matt Liggins

Matt is Managing Director UK & Ireland and has been with Lifes2good since April 2014. With over 16 years’ experience in Sales and Marketing based roles Matt has worked across a variety of business sectors including Health & Beauty, Eyecare, Pharma, Alcoholic Drinks, Financial Services & FMCG. Brands which he has represented include blue chip multinationals and household names from the likes of Pfizer, Bayer, Campbell’s, WKD & Del Monte partnering with Pharmacies, Grocers, Wholesalers, Distributors, Online Retailers & On-trade accounts. Matt’s role prior to joining the Lifes2good team was at Bausch & Lomb (Valeant Pharmaceuticals) where he spent 8 years working in a variety of senior customer facing and management positions.
